W. Guenther Plaut Collection

Scope and Content Note

This small collection consists of a wide variety of photocopied materials, including correspondence, memoirs, photos, and official documents, which primarily relate to the histories of the Plaut, Rosenthal, and Wormser families. The Plaut materials include some correspondence, photos, and documents, including affidavits for Tilo Plaut and his capacity as a Kosher butcher in Switzerland from 1937-1951, and clippings regarding Jonas Plaut and the Baruch-Auerbach Orphanage. The Rosenthal materials include nineteenth-century family letters and correspondence pertaining to emigration during the second World War. Finally, the Wormser folder contains some photocopied eighteenth-century documents, as well as a nineteenth-century account of a visit to Strassbourg and a family history compiled during the twentieth century.

Gunther Plaut was a rabbi and senior scholar at the Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto.
