Biographical Note
Arno Nadel was born in Vilnius in 1878, and moved to Berlin in 1895. There he was active as a cantor, and devoted much energy to collecting and publishing Jewish folk songs and cantorial music, culminating in the 7 volume Hallelujah in 1938. In 1943 he was deported and murdered at Auschwitz.
