Scope and Content Note
This collection contains typescript and published versions of Mountain Climbers (1912), and a printed version of Better Not to Be Born (1914). It also includes two programs, one of which is for a performance of The Eternal Jew (1906), and one in which there is an advertisement for Di Tsayt (The Times), which Pinski edited. There is also a stock prospectus for David Pinski Books, Inc. Pinski sent these materials to journalist Isaac Goldberg of Roxbury, MA at some point.

Biographical Note
Yiddish author, editor, and playwright David Pinski was born in Mogilev, Russia (now Belarus) on April 5, 1872. He wrote novels, plays, short stories, essays, songs, and poems, and contributed to numerous journals and newspapers in Warsaw, New York, and Israel. Pinski and his wife Adele came to New York in 1899, where he worked as the editor at several Yiddish newspapers. He was also involved in Socialist and Labor Zionist politics and wrote several novels and over twenty plays, many about the common man or the worker, historical figures, and Biblical characters. These include Isaac Sheftel (1897), Family Tsvi (1904), The Treasure (1906), Yankel the Blacksmith (1906), The Eternal Jew (1906), Gabri and the Women (1908), Professor Brenner (1911), and many others. Pinski emigrated to Israel in 1949, where he settled in Haifa. He continued to publish articles and write plays until his death on August 11, 1959.
