This collection contains two letters and and card containing a two line poem. The poem is dedicated to Charlotte Moscheles (1819); the letters are written by Beer to author and editor Theodor Hell (pseudonym of Karl Gottfried Theodor Winkler) (1825) and to the botanist C. G. Nees van Esenbeck (1824). There is also a biographical sketch of Beer taken from Karl Goedecke's volume (1905) and a portrait of Beer taken from the cover of Festnummer Grossloge fuer Deutschland (1927)
Michael Beer (1800-1833) was a poet and playwright. Beer's plays were performed at the Berlin Hoftheater and in Vienna. Beer was the brother of the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer
